The 4-H Million Trees Project is dedicated to supporting 4-H youth tree planting projects that help slow global climate change.

Annie's Grants for Gardens
Limited number of small grants up to $250 to school gardens and other educational programs that connect children directly to real food. These funds can be used to buy gardening tools, seeds or other needed supplies.

Bank of America Student Leaders Program (new!)
If you are a student with a passion for improving your community, we would like to help you turn that passion into action. As a Bank of America Student Leader, you will participate in an all-expense paid week-long Student Leadership Summit in Washington, D.C. in July.

Captain Planet Foundation (new!)
Grants up to $2500 to promote and support high-quality educational programs that enable children and youth to understand and appreciate our world through learning experiences that engage them in active, hands-on projects to improve the environment in their schools and communities. Deadline is January 15, 2012.

Coca-Cola/Keep America Beautiful Recycling Bin Grant Program (new!)
The Coca-Cola/KAB Recycling Bin Grant Program supports local community and college and university recycling programs by providing bins to selected grant recipients for the collection of beverage container recyclables. Grants will be provided to a limited number of applicants who can demonstrate how their proposals will lead to sustainable recycling opportunities. Proposals for both grant offerings will be accepted online between January 26 and March 2, 2012.

Disney's Planet Challenge
Disney's Planet Challenge (DPC) is a project-based learning environmental competition for classrooms across the United States. DPC teaches kids about science and conservation while empowering them to make a positive impact on their communities and planet.

Herb Society of America Grant for Educators (new!)
The Grant for Educators challenges individuals, groups or small businesses to develop and deliver learning experiences to the public. The grant recognizes innovative projects that enhance herbal education in school systems, in communities, or in any public forum (electronic or person-to-person). It requires learning goals and a mechanism to measure the educational outcomes. Each year, the Grant Committee anticipates funding one or two grants for a total of $5,000. Deadline is December 31, 2011.

Keep America Beautiful Grafitti Hurts
This program is designed to help communities kick start or expand a local grafitti prevention program.

Keep America Beautiful 'Lend-A-Bin' Grant Program
The Anheuser-Busch Foundation and Keep America Beautiful have partnered to establish this program to provide recycling opportunities at special events and promote the habit of recycling on-the-go within local communities.

Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center Seed Grants
The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in partnership with Native American Seed awards grants of seed (Seed Grants) to Texas schools (K-12) that support the Wildflower Center’s mission to increase the sustainable use and conservation of native wildflowers, plants and landscapes. Seed grants can be used to establish wildflower demonstration areas, to enhance existing wildflower sites, or in other educationally directed projects.

Like A Drop of Water Essay Contest (new!)
This writing contest encourages youth ages 8-17 to share their ideas on how they and their countries can reduce climate change and pollution.  6 Awards of $50-$100 per month through June 2015. There is no deadline.

The Nature of Learning Grant Program - The Nature of Learning is the FWS National Wildlife Refuge System’s community-based environmental education initiative that seeks to: Use National Wildlife Refuges as outdoor classrooms to promote a greater understanding of local conservation issues; Encourage an interdisciplinary approach to learning that seeks to enhance student academic achievement; Utilize field experiences and student-led stewardship projects to connect classroom lessons to real world issues; and Involve a partnership among local schools, community groups, natural resource professionals and local businesses.

NEEF's Richard C. Bartlett Environental Education Award
The Richard C. Bartlett Environmental Education Award is given annually to an outstanding middle or high school teacher who successfully integrates environmental education into their curriculum and engages students in interdisciplinary solutions to environmental challenges. The award recognizes an educator who can serve as an inspiration and model for others. Deadline is June 8, 2012.


ONEOK Foundation
Since its inception in 1997, the ONEOK Foundation has awarded $39 million in grants to support nonprofit organizations. Primary focus areas for our community investments are education, health and human services, arts and culture, and community improvement. We give priority consideration to educational programs and to health and human services organizations, particularly organizations with programs that help people become self-sufficient.

Rockefeller Family Fund the Environment
The Rockefeller Family Fund's Environment program emphasizes conservation of natural resources, protection of health as affected by the environment, meaningful implementation and enforcement of the nation's environmental laws, the cessation and cleanup of pollution caused by the Department of Energy and the Department of Defense, and public participation in national environmental policy debates. 

Shade Structure Grant Program (new!)
The American Academy of Dermatology's shade structure grant program awards grants up to $8,000 each for the purchase of permanent shade structures designed to provide shade and ultraviolet (UV) ray protection for outdoor areas. The AAD also provides a permanent sign to be displayed near the shade structure. The AAD receives support for this program through its members. Deadline is January 2, 2012.

Siemens We Can Change the World Challenge (new!)
The Siemens We Can Change the World Challenge at the elementary school level is designed to help students work together to solve an environmental problem in their classroom or school community. It’s open to all elementary school classes in grades K-5 with a teacher/mentor. The teacher/mentor must register and create a class team to begin. Then the teacher can work with his or her class to complete the application. The challenge focus for elementary school is change at the classroom or school community level. All submitted work must be completed during the entry period.  K-2 entries and 3-5 entries will be judged separately and a first, second and third prize winner from both K-2 and 3-5 will be selected. Top prizes include a grant for your school and green prize packs full of the latest in fun and sustainable products for each member of the winning classes.
The challenge is open August 24, 2011 through March 15, 2012. 

Spruce Up Your School Sweepstakes (new!)
Enter the Spruce Up Your School Sweepstakes for a chance to win a $5,000 grant to help make your school's play area more eco-friendly and green by adding trees, shrubbery and more!  Two runners up will receive "Green Packs" - complete with eco-friendly, TurfMutt-branded school supplies for the whole classroom!  Winners will be announced on or about March 12, 2012. Submissions must be made by a teacher of grades K-5. Enter once a day, every day through March 1, 2012 to increase your chance of winning! 


Texas Emissions Reduction Plan (TERP)
The TERP program provides financial incentives to eligible individuals, businesses or local governments to reduce emissions from polluting vehicles and equipment. Grant applications are accepted at different times throughout the year, depending on available funds.
 
Texas Clean School Bus Program
Grants awarded through this program help schools purchase and install emissions-reduction technologies. The program will award funds to school districts and charter schools as reimbursement for the cost of eligible projects that reduce diesel-exhaust emissions.

Texas Healthy Habitats Grant
The Texas Healthy Habitats grants engage students in grades 5-12 in service-learning initiatives to improve or restore the natural environment.

Toyota Tapestry Grants for Science Teachers
Toyota TAPESTRY recognizes outstanding science teachers and gives students hands-on exposure to science at an early age.

U.S. EPA Environmental Education Grants Program

The Grants Program sponsored by EPA's Office of Environmental Education (OEE), Office of External Affairs and Environmental Education, supports environmental education projects that enhance the public's awareness, knowledge, and skills to help people make informed decisions that affect environmental quality. EPA awards grants each year based on funding appropriated by Congress. Annual funding for the program ranges between $2 and $3 million.

U.S. EPA Region 9 Project Grants
EPA provides financial assistance grants to qualified applicants to support a variety of environmental programs and activities. EPA Region 9 works within the context of EPA's national grants program to provide funding opportunities specific to EPA's Pacific Southwest Region.

Waste Management Charitable Giving
Healthy thriving communities depend on involved citizens, organizations and corporate partners for momentum. Waste Management lends support and services to causes that promote civic pride, economic development and revitalization.

Whole Kids Foundation School Garden Grants (new!)
Learning about the process of growing food helps children develop a deep understanding of the connection between healthy eating and a healthy body. School gardens offer an opportunity to integrate math, science and health curriculum into a dynamic, interactive setting. They also provide a base of knowledge that allows children to take an active role in healthy food choices. Grant applications will be accepted through December 31, 2011. Applications will be reviewed and recipients will be notified in February 2012. There is a limit of one garden grant per school.
